Looking for the perfect accommodations in Vail, Colorado? Vail is full of luxury hotels, airbnb’s, and ski-in ski-out resorts that finding a place to stay in Vail to your preferences won’t be too difficulty. There are five areas to choose from when deciding where to stay in Vail, Colorado. The five areas to stay in Vail are Vail Village, Lionshead, Cascade Village, West Vail or East Vail.
Wherever you choose to stay, you will be in close proximity to Vail Mountain. I lived here for 2 ski seasons and nothing beats a powder day on the mountain followed by some apres beers and a hot tub to end the night.

Where to Stay in Vail, Colorado
Vail Village is the main area to stay in Vail due to its central location to the mountain, ski lifts, restaurants, bars and rental shops. Everything you need is walking distance and right at your finger tips.
Lionshead isn’t far from Vail Village as it can be reached by foot after a 10-15 minute walk. There is a also a free shuttle that connects the two villages if you’re not up for walking. Lionshead is close is smaller than Vail Village but still contains several restaurants, bars, rental shops and access to the mountain.
Cascade Village is a 5 minute drive from Vail Village and Lionshead Village. If you don’t feel like driving and would rather make your way on skis or snowboard, no problem. Cascade Village is connected by chairlift 20. From the top of the lift you can traverse your way across the mountain to Lionshead and eventually end up at Vail Village. This part of the mountain is less crowded than Vail Village or Lionshead.
West Vail is a great place to stay if you are looking for cheaper accommodation to stay and if you don’t mind a short bus ride to get to Vail or Lionshead Village. The best part is the bus line that runs from East and West Vail are free and always punctual, snow or shine.
East Vail is where to stay in Vail if you prefer to stay in Vail airbnbs and to keep costs down as most the resorts and hotels are located in Vail Village and Lionshead.
Where to Stay in Vail Village

Tivoli Lodge Vail
One of the best places to stay in Vail Village is the Tivoli Lodge. The Tivoli Lodge is located directly in Vail Village a stones throw away from Gondola 1. This is a great hotel to stay in Vail if you are traveling with kids or someone who is learning to ski as the bunny hill is located next to Gondola One.
The rooms at the Tivoli Lodge and beautiful decorated in rustic furniture. Breakfast is served daily and the hotel has an excellent fitness center. This isn’t only where to stay in Vail in the winter but a perfect place to stay in Vail in the summer as cycling and hiking is close by. The Tivoli is walkable to many bars, restaurants and lifts in the Vail Village.
The Sebastian
The Sebastian is a 5 star resort is close to all the best bars and restaurants located inside Vail Village. This luxury hotel offers ski-in/ski-out access to Vail Mountain at Gondola One. Equipped with an outdoor heated pool and 4 hot tubs will be the perfect way to relax after you’re eventful day on the mountain.
The interior decor is mountain modern and the lobby area is very inviting featuring a big fireplace and a library where you can enjoy coffee, tea and newspapers every morning. The Colorado Ski Museum is a 5-minute walk which is located next to the Vail transportation center.
Vail Mountain Lodge and Spa
Located in the heart of the Vail Village is the Vail Mountain Lodge and Spa. This lodge and spa is walkable (within 5 minutes) to the all ski lifts inside Vail square and is located above the Terra Bistro which serves excellent cuisine.
Staying here also gives you access to the Vail Athletic Club which is an excellent and well equipped gym. Some features include a climbing wall, sauna and exercise classes. This is where to stay in Vail to be in the center of it all, walkable to several ski resorts, bars, restaurants and the bus depot.
Austria Haus Hotel
Another great stay located in the heart of the Vail Village is the Austria Haus Hotel. This Vail, Colorado resort is within a 5 minutes walk to many ski lifts and steps away from restaurants and bars to enjoy after you explore the mountain.
Staying here comes with its fair share of amenities including a spa, fitness center and bar. This Vail resort is also pet friendly so the whole family can enjoy a vacation in Vail, Colorado.
Sonnenalp
Yet another beautiful Vail hotel located in the heart of Vail Village is the Sonnenalp. This German styled resort has a beautiful fitness center, indoor pool, hot tubs, spa, restaurant on site and more. They also serve one of the best breakfasts in Vail. Gondola 1 is a five minute walk. Stay here Vail for luxury, convience and top of the line service.
Where to Stay in Lionshead Village

The Arrabelle
Located in Lionshead Village (theres a free in town shuttle that connects them) is the Arrabelle. This luxury resort is a 5 minute walk from the Eagle Bahn Gondola which is the gondola you take up for sunset. This ski in ski out resort is worth the splurge and is one of the best places to stay in Vail. Not to mention it has a rooftop pool and hot tub perfect for staying in Vail in the winter or in the summer!
Tavern on the Square is the restaurant on site and serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are several bars close by perfect for après-ski cocktails.
Ritz carlton Residences Vail
Would it be a best places to stay in Vail article if I didn’t include the Ritz Carlton Residences Vail?! The Ritz Carlton Residences are one of the best hotels Vail has to offer.
This resort features heated outdoor pools and hot tubs. All the suites with fully equipped modern kitchens, living areas and large bathrooms. The Eagle Bahn Gondola is a 5-minute walk and you can rent ski equipment on-site.
Four Seasons Resort Vail
This Four Seasons Resort is located at the base of Vail Mountain and could be the best place to stay in Vail. The Four Seasons has all of the amenities you could want including a heated outdoor pool, hot tubs, restaurant and bars on sight.
Plus it has a 5-star spa and wellness center that is perfect for a day of pampering if you need a day off from the mountain. The best resort in Vail is waiting for you to check in.
Vail Marriott Mountain Resort
Another beautiful Vail resort located in Lionshead Village is the Vail Marrioutt Mountain Resort. To get to the Eaglebahn Gondola is about a 5 minute walk. The rooms are big and comfortable. Like most Vail resorts on this list, this hotel has a heated swimming pool, hot tubs, fitness center and spa services.
If you are a beginner to mountain sports, the hotel has a ski school to take lessons and a place to rent ski equipment. Adventure Ridge is also close to Vail Marriott Mountain, which is a fun way to experience Vail in the winter or the summer.
Montaneros In Vail
The Montaneros in Vail is located in the venter of Lionshead Village. Each apartment features a balcony, refrigerator, stove and oven. Walkable to Eaglebahn gondola. Theres a great pool and hot tub to relax in after a day of adventuring on the mountain.
Where to Stay in Cascade Village

Grand Hyatt Vail
The Grand Hyatt Vail is a terrific ski in/ ski out resort located in Cascade Village. The luxurious resort offers spa services, an on site restaurant and bar. Vail Village and Lionshead Village are a 5 minute drive away or you could traverse the mountain on skis or snowboards by taking chairlift 20.
This Vail hotel is gorgeous and has all the amenities you could want including 2 outdoor heated pools, 3 hot tubs and a fitness center. There is a free shuttle that connects all the villages and you’ll love ending the day sipping a cocktail at the fireside lounge.
Vail Residences at Cascade Village
The Vail Residences at Cascade Village is another ski in/ ski out resort adjacent to Chairlift 20. The resort offers many services including a spa, restaurant and bar on site, fitness center, a place to purchase a ski pass, ski storage and ski equipment for hire.
This is a perfect place to stay in Vail if you are traveling as a couple or a family and would like to cook some of your meals in house.
Where to Stay in West Vail

Luxury Mountain Home
If you are traveling to Vail for a ski trip with a group and want to stay in a cabin, then this is the stay for you. This luxurious, badass mountain home has 4 bedrooms and three and a half baths. The stay is at the end of a cul-de-sac, with scenic views of the White River National Forest. Vail Mountain is only a 10 minute (free) bus ride away and the bus stop is a 15 minute walk on foot.
The home is perfect for couple traveling together or where to stay in Vail with kids as it has 2 master suites. The elegant design, spacious deck and hot tub with views will make this stay unforgettable and worth every penny.
1 Bedroom Condo walk to the Bus Stop
If you are looking for cheap places to stay in Vail, Colorado then book a stay at Jack’s place in West Vail. This comfortable 1 bedroom, 1 bath condo is conveniently located on the free West Vail bus line and takes about 10 minutes to get to Vail Village.
The stay comes with a queen size bed, full kitchen and washer and dryer. A grocery store and a few restaurants are also walkable from the condo.
Marriott Streamside
Another cheaper place to stay in Vail is at a vacation rental in the Marriott Streamside. The condo is a 1 bedroom, 1 bath but equipped with 2 queen size beds. This would be a great place to stay in Vail if you are traveling with a small family and don’t mind sharing 1 room. Staying at the Marriott Streamside gives guests access to the BBQ pits, racquetball court, fitness center, hot tub and pools.
The best perk may be the free parking and it’s also located on the free bus line which helps keep the costs down.
Where to Stay in East Vail

Vail Racquet Club Mountain Resort
The Vail Racquet Club Mountain Resort is located in East Vail. The resort features an all-inclusive health club which gives access to hot tubs, tennis courts, saunas and steam rooms. Each apartment features a full kitchen perfect to cook your meals.
There is a free bus that loops through East Vail and drops you off at the Vail Transportation Center. Buses are frequent during the peak season of winter running every 15 minutes. The Vail Racquet Club is located at the end of the East Vail bus line.
Manor Vail Lodge
The Manor Vail Lodge is a beautiful property located in East Vail just outside of Vail Village. This Vail accommodation has a restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool, a bar and the Betty Ford Gardens. This is a perfect place to stay if you are traveling here in the winter or traveling here in the summer.
If you are staying in Vail in the winter, the Manor Vail Lodge is close to Golden Peak Lifts. If you are staying in Vail in the summer, the Betty Ford Gardens hold weekly concerts (one of my favorite parts about living here in the summer) and it is a walk along a beautiful path to get to Vail Village.
3 Bedroom Condo in East Vail w/ Hot Tub
This beautiful 3 Bedroom Condo with a personal hot tub is located on the shuttle route in East Vail.
