Vang Vieng, Laos used to have a reputation of being one of the biggest party towns in Southeast Asia. Backpackers would flock here to participate in the alcohol and drug fueled parties on the river. Over the years a few accidents happened and the Lao government got strict and “cracked” down on the extreme partying.
Although the party scene isn’t as intense as it used to be, I would NOT skip out and visiting this town. This is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Laos. The mountains that encompass Vang Vieng not only make a jaw dropping back drop but offers lots to do like rock climbing and hiking.
Shedding its shell and emerging as a trending outdoor and nature getaway destination you’ll need a clean and comfortable place to retire for the night. Pan’s Place is a popular spot with backpackers and one of the best hostels in Vang Vieng. The location is perfect directly in town and it has a comfortable common area and pool.
Stay here if you want to meet people and be able to walk everywhere you go. Close to shops and all the best bars and restaurants in Vang Vieng.
Nana Backpackers Hostel
If one of your top priorities when visiting Vang Vieng is to partake in some partying then stay at the Nana Backpacker Hostel. Located in the heart of Vang Vieng, this backpacker hostel has a swimming pool, movie room, mini gym, bar with a pool table and restaurant on the property.
There are air conditioned rooms whether you’re booking a private room or a bed in the dormitory.
This hostel is a great place to meet new people, make friends and have ample things to do when you’re not exploring the adventure side that Vang Vieng has to offer. Plus you can get a bed for as cheap as 4 USD’s a night.
Magic Monkey Garden Bungalow
If you are traveling on a budget and don’t want to stay in a partying hostel the Magic Monkey Garden Bungalow is a Vang Vieng guesthouse and agreat option on a budget. The grounds provide great views of the mountains and the sunsets are even better. There is a swimming pool and free breakfast which only adds to the appeal.
Mid Range Places to Stay in Vang Vieng
GREEN VIEW RESORT
Located a bit farther outside of town, the Green View Resort is the best resort in Vang Vieng if you’re looking for some seclusion and relaxation. The pool is a perfect place to relax for the day and there is a restaurant on site, although expect to pay a little bit extra than you would in other restaurants in Vang Vieng.
The Green View Resort is a small boutique hotel that has a total of 6 bungalows. This is where to stay in Vang Vieng for phenomenal views of the Nam ngum lake and the mountains.
Sansan Resort
I feel like I could say the mountains provide a beautiful back drop at this hotel for every hotel because the whole town of Vang Vieng is stunningly beautiful. The Sansan Resort is no exception. Well kept and quiet. Located a few minutes outside of town.
VANG VIENG VICTORY HOTEL
The Vang Vieng Victory Hotel is located in the center of town. The stay comes with a lot of great amenities including an outdoor swimming pool, fast Wifi (especially for Laos standards), TV and air conditioning.
The rooms are basic Lao design and sits on a quiet street. Stay here to be walking distance to all there things to do in Vang Vieng. One of the best Vang Vieng hotels.
Vieng Tara Villa
A unique location over looking rice fields. If you like your coffee with a view, the Vieng Tara Villa‘s provide free breakfast in a terriffic outdoor seating area. This Vang Vieng hotel is quiet and away from the crowds.

Riverside Boutique Resort
If you’re looking for a bit of luxury you can get it for a great price at the Riverside Boutique Resort Vang Vieng. This is one of the best hotels in Vang Vieng.

Amari Vang Vieng
Some of the amenities include a restaurant on site, swimming pool, bar, fitness center and room service which isn’t common in Vang Vieng. The swimming pool alone should be your reason to stay here, views for days and service to match.
Silver Naga Hotel
If finding the perfect pool is a requirement when booking hotels, look no further. Besides the pool at Silver Naga Hotel there is a tasty restaurant on site and its about a 5 minute walk to town.
Serene Premier Vang Vieng Hotel
The Serene Premier VangVieng Hotel is new, clean and spacious. As with most hotels in town this place has great views and a perfect pool.
