Best Restaurants in Koh Phi Phi

Pirates House restaurant in Koh Phi Phi Thailand

    Pirates House

Pirates House may be my favorite place to eat in Koh Phi Phi. Located on the pier side of the island, the restaurant serves a mix of Indian and Thai food, and everything we tried was delicious.

We started with the Spicy Burmese Salad, which was fresh, flavorful, and had just the right amount of spice. For our mains, Joe ordered the green curry and I went with the veggie massaman curry.

Both were so good, I just love tasty food. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, the sauces were packed with flavor, and it was easily one of the best meals we had on the island.

    Basil Bistro

Basil Bistro is a small, cozy restaurant in Koh Phi Phi serving affordable and seriously tasty Thai food. The menu is smaller than many restaurants on the island, which I actually loved, it felt like they focused on doing a handful of dishes really well.

We started with the Som Tam, a spicy green papaya salad with peanuts, tomatoes, green beans, and lime. I order this dish basically every time I see it on the menu in Thailand, and Basil Bistro’s did not disappoint.

For our mains, we stuck with our usual favorites: massaman curry for me and green curry for Joe. Are you detecting a pattern here? The rice even came shaped like a heart.

In total, we spent about $12 for our starter, two entrees, and a Chang beer each. The restaurant itself is small with only a handful of tables and has a relaxed atmosphere, so I’d recommend going earlier if you want to snag a seat.

Garlic 1992 restaurant in KOH PHI PHI

    Garlic 1992

If your idea of a delicious meal involves plastic stools, then look no further than Garlic 1992. This old-school Koh Phi Phi restaurant has been around since 1992 and is still one of the island’s most popular places to eat.

This is one of the best restaurants in Koh Phi Phi for casual Thai food. The menu is huge, with everything from local Thai dishes and curries to breakfast and international dishes. You can’t go wrong with one of the curries or the fried chicken.

Garlic 1992 gets busy, so come early if you want to avoid waiting for a table. When I last visited in 2022, it was cash only, so I’d recommend having some baht on hand just in case.

Efe Restaurant in Koh Phi Phi

    EFE Mediterranean Cuisine Restaurant

Maybe we were having withdrawals because we arrived in the Phi Phi Islands after spending time in Türkiye, but EFE immediately caught our attention. We ordered a döner kebab, and it was so good – loaded with meat and veggies, and wrapped in a soft, warm pita.

We stopped here after watching the fire shows on our first night in Koh Phi Phi. Just as we got our doner, it started dumping rain, so naturally we ordered another one and waited out the storm.

A couple of days later, we discovered another EFE location that was more of a sit-down restaurant with a larger menu and full Turkish dishes like kebabs. If you’re craving something other than Thai food, EFE is one of my favorite place to eat in Koh Phi Phi.

Tasty Pad thai in a Koh Phi Phi Restaurant

    Acqua Restaurant

Acqua Restaurant Phi Phi is one of the more inviting restaurants in Koh Phi Phi, with a bright, polished atmosphere that immediately caught our eye. We finally strayed from our usual curries and ordered the Pad Thai, and it was exactly what we wanted.

The rice noodles were perfectly cooked and served with crispy cabbage and a beautiful presentation. If you’re looking for a slightly nicer sit-down meal in Koh Phi Phi, Acqua is a great option, with a more upscale atmosphere and a wine list to pair with your meal.

Anna's restaurant in Koh Phi PHi Thailand

    Anna’s Restaurant

Wrapping up our best restaurants in Koh Phi Phi is Anna’s Restaurant, a cozy spot with a diverse menu of Thai and Western options. The Som Tam was exceptional and served with sticky rice.

It had the perfect amount of spice, and they even brought us a small side of chopped peppers so we could kick up the heat if we wanted. Naturally, Joe ordered the green curry, while I branched out and tried the chili crème. Joe’s curry was creamy, spicy, and packed with flavor.

We arrived around 5:45 and had our pick of tables, but by the time we left around 7, the restaurant was completely full. If you want to avoid waiting, I’d recommend coming early.

    Pa-Noi Thai Food

I haven’t personally eaten at Pa-Noi Thai Food, but it’s currently a top choice for casual Thai restaurants on Koh Phi Phi, so I wanted to put it on your radar.

This small, no-frills spot serves Thai classics like Pad Thai, curries, Tom Kha Gai, fried rice, and cashew chicken. It consistently gets good reviews, making it another option to check out if you’re looking for affordable Thai food on the island.

    P.P. Wang Ta Fu

I haven’t personally eaten at P.P. Wang Ta Fu either, but it’s one I’m definitely trying on my next trip. Koh Phi Phi is an island after all and I love fresh seafood.

If you’ve eaten enough curry and Pad Thai to last a lifetime and are craving something different, this popular Japanese restaurant specializes in sushi, sashimi, seafood, and steak.

    Patcharee French Bakery

On our last morning in Koh Phi Phi, it was absolutely pouring rain, but that didn’t stop us from making the trek to Patcharee Bakery for one last coffee before leaving the island.

If you’re looking for a good coffee or breakfast in Koh Phi Phi, this is a great spot to have on your radar. The menu is huge, with everything from bagels and croissants to açaí bowls, smoothies, and other breakfast and brunch favorites.

Before dining at any of these Koh Phi Phi restaurants, here are a few things to know:

    • 💸 Tipping: Tipping isn’t generally mandatory in Thailand, although it’s always appreciated. Check your bill first, as some restaurants may already include a service charge.
